Shtetl 2.0™
Policy on Disruptive or Harassing Behavior

Approved by the Board of Directors
January 21, 2015

Anyone who believes that they have experienced or witnessed disruptive or harassing behavior by any employee, member, or visitor at Shtetl 2.0™ meetings or events should report the incident immediately in writing to the Board Chair or Chair of the Governance and Board Development Committee, so that appropriate action can be taken.

Shtetl 2.0™ will promptly and thoroughly investigate all reports of disruption or harassment as discreetly and confidentially as practicable. The investigation would generally include a private interview with the person(s) making a report of disruption or harassment. It would also generally be necessary to discuss allegations of disruption or harassment with the accused individual(s) and others who may have information relevant to the investigation. Shtetl 2.0™’s goal is to conduct a thorough investigation, to determine whether disruption or harassment occurred, and to determine what action to take if it is determined that improper behavior occurred.

If Shtetl 2.0™ determines that disruptive or harassing behavior has occurred, it will take appropriate action against the offending party, which can include counseling, warnings, suspensions, termination of employment, termination of membership, and/or exclusion from Shtetl 2.0™ activities. Individuals who report disruptive or harassing behavior and individuals who cooperate with investigations into alleged disruptive or harassing behavior will not be subject to retaliation.

Upon completion of the investigation, Shtetl 2.0™ will inform the individual(s) who made the complaint of the results of the investigation.

Compliance with this policy is a condition of each employee’s employment. Employees are encouraged to raise any questions or concerns about this policy or about possible discriminatory harassment with the Executive Director, Board Chair, or Chair of the Governance and Board Development Committee.

This policy will be posted publicly on the Shtetl 2.0™ website.

As we build community, we commit to the principle that everyone deserves dignity and respect.

Our goal is to create a healthy, safe environment that supports all participants in our activities.

We provide the process here for anyone who needs to reach out to the Shtetl 2.0™ Board when words and actions are not used with restraint and wisdom.
