Practices for Defending Democracy
Monthly Essays Discussion Group
In On Tyranny: Twenty Lessons from the Twentieth Century (2017), Yale Professor Timothy Snyder, a scholar of totalitarian movements, describes twenty practices that citizens can use in preparation for facing tyranny. Reconstructing Judaism’s Evolve asked 20 Jewish writers to each take one of these practices and describe how they are able to pursue the practice and/or find the practice challenging. We will read one or two short essays from this symposium, Practices for Defending Democracy, each month and meet on Zoom to discuss, with rotating leadership.
Bob Tabak will lead the first session, when we will discuss the Introduction by Rabbi Nancy Fuchs Kreimer and Remain in Our Natural Habitat by Rabbi Armin Langer
2nd Thursday of each month at 1:00 PM.Zoom link provided in registartion confirmation.
Please register by 12:00 NOON the day before the session.
