Understanding Medicare and Open Enrollment
With Trusted PA MEDI Counselor Joan Adler
Medicare's annual Open Enrollment period, October 15 - December 7, is fast approaching.
Choices in both Original Medicare (with Supplemental & Drug Plans) and Medicare Advantage Plans and can be complex - so Shtetl 2.0 is hosting a special Zoom program on Thursday, October 22 - 7:00 - 9:00 PM, to help you understand your options.
Joan Adler, a trusted local PA MEDI counselor will explain Open Enrollment rules, and review Original Medicare and Medicare Advantage Plans, their strengths and weaknesses, and personal situations to consider. She will also respond to your concerns during a Q&A session. If still needed, she will follow up with a personal counseling session during the Open Enrollment period.
Each fall, Medicare Plans can make changes to cost, coverage, and what providers/pharmacies are in their networks. Drug Plans can also shift their reimbursement tiers. A Plan can keep the same name, but provide significantly different coverage next year.
If you are in any Medicare Plan, be sure to review the materials your Plan sends you - Evidence of Coverage (EOC) and Annual Notice of Change (ANOC) - to make sure your they will still meet your needs in 2027.
If you’re satisfied that your current Plans are still being offered and will still meet your needs for next year, you need not do anything. IF NOT, from October 15 to December 7, you can change your Medicare health plans and/or prescription drug coverage for the following year to better meet your needs.
Register NOW to receive the Zoom link and advance materials to review in early October, when the 2027 plans become available.
Joan Adler is a former physician who has been a Medicare counselor with PA MEDI for close to 10 years - most of those years as a volunteer. She does primarily person-to-person counseling and also some group presentations. Joan lives in Mt Airy and has a dog who walks in Carpenter Woods.
